Local Labour Recruitment For Wasa Projects

The Water and Sewerage Authority says a certain Member of Parliament has issued a public statement inviting interested persons to contact their office, regarding short-term employment on one of the Authority’s pipeline projects.

It says the project in question is under the Community Water Improvement Programme.

Funded is provided by the Ministry of Public Utilities and executed by the Authority.

This particular project is proposed to be carried out by a contractor, but has not yet been awarded.

There is no provision under this or any other programme, for recruitment to be conducted under the purview of an MP’s office.

In the execution of such projects, the awarded contractor determines the allocation of local labour and arrangements in relation to filling the opportunities for local labour on the project.

However, it is important to note the recruitment of such labour lies specifically with the contractor for the project.
