Video detection systems installed at seven major highway intersections

The Traffic Management Branch (TMB) recently installed Video Detection Systems at seven major intersections along the nation’s Highways.

This new and innovative system will prioritize green time for waiting vehicles, which results in the efficient movement of traffic along the major intersections.

The Works Minister said you will no longer have to wait at the traffic signal, while other movements are on green with no vehicles in those lanes.

Video Detection Systems were recently installed at the following intersections/traffic signals:
-Churchill Roosevelt Highway/St. Augustine (UWI)
-Churchill Roosevelt Highway/Pasea (Tunapuna)
-Churchill Roosevelt Highway/Macoya
-Churchill Roosevelt Highway/Orange Grove Road
-Churchill Roosevelt Highway/Trincity
-Churchill Roosevelt Highway/Golden Grove Road
-Diego Martin Highway/Four Roads

The goal of the Traffic Management Branch is to enhance public safety, reduce congestion, improve travel and transit information, and reduce detrimental environmental impacts through Intelligent Transportation Systems such as Video Detection Systems.
Remember, safety is everyone’s priority!
