Venezuelan man held with AK-47 rifles

A Venezuelan man was held with 4 AK-47 rifles during an anti-crime exercise in the South.

According to police an anti-crime exercise was carried out in the Southern Division between the hours of 4 pm and 10 pm on Friday 9th June 2023.

This exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Smith, ASP Jaikaran, and directly supervised by Insp. Ramlogan, Sgt. Joseph, Sgt. Mason, Cpl Phoolchan, and W/Cpl Plenty, and included officers of the Southern Division Task Force and Officers of the Canine Branch.

Three persons were arrested:
1. 30-year-old Albert Luis Perez, a Venezuelan national who lived at Orion Drive, Harmony Hall Marabella.
Offence: Trafficking in four (4) AK-47 assault rifles and eleven (11) firearm magazines;

2. 46-year-old Kerwyn Brown of Hilltop Drive Claxton Bay.
Offence: Possession of 105 grams of marijuana; and

3. 30-year-old Tevin Thomas of Orange Field Road, Lion Drive, Carapachima.
Offence: Possession of 70 grams of marijuana.
