Vasant: PM’s admission “gracious” but PNM MP’s still condescending

There is a concern that despite the Prime Minister’s attempt to set an example, PNM MP’s and Ministers are unable to show more humility and connect with the pain and helplessness experienced by many citizens.

This sentiment was expressed by former Communications Minister Vasant Bharath as he addressed the Prime Minister’s admission that some of the comments by PNM Ministers in recent weeks appeared be lacking empathy.

In an interview with the Express newspaper, Dr Rowley said the Government members have to be careful in what they say and how they say it, cognisant of the fact that it may not be received in the way intended.

Mr Bharath described the PM’s admission as gracious saying that it may go some way to placating the public sentiment.

He reiterated his belief however that the Cabinet may find it difficult to follow the PM’s lead.
