A ban on glass bottle for Carnival Monday and Tuesday has finally been put into action after years of discussion.
According to the National Security Minsiter, Stuart Young the ban on glass bottles for Carnival will take effect from 4am on Carnival Monday and end at mid-night on Carnival Tuesday.
Speaking at a media conference held this morning Minister Young said that persons found in breach of the law during that time will have their beverages seized if they refuse to use plastic or paper cups.
This move comes on the heels of several incidents happening during the Carnival season as party goers may be enticed to use glass bottles as weapons.
Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith said that his officers will be active during the two day period to ensure that al citizens are safe and that individuals obey the law.
