US issues travel alert for TT

Trinidad and Tobago has found itself on a US travel advisory alert.

The US State Department has issued a level three alert travel advisory for T&T, advising travellers to reconsider travel here due to restricted travel options put in place to prevent COVID-19.

The advisory says travellers to Trinidad and Tobago may experience border closures, airport closures, travel prohibitions, stay at home orders, business closures, and other emergency conditions within Trinidad and Tobago due to COVID-19.

The alert also warns about high crime in the country.

On January 19, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) placed T&T and a number of other Caribbean countries in a Level Four COVID-19 alert advising against travel to those destinations.

The other islands are: St Lucia, US Virgin Islands, Aruba, The Bahamas, Barbados, Cuba, Curacao, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Sint Maarten/St Martin and Turks and Caicos.
