TTUTA defends call for teachers to stay home from school today

The Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association is defending the call for teachers to stay at home today, the first day of the new school term.

The Association sees the call it has made for its members to remain at home today as an outright rejection of the CPO’s 4% offer.

Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital this morning TTUTA president, Antonia Tekah-DeFreitas said that it was only one day being taken for the action and this would not contribute to learning loss being experienced by some students.

She said that there are too many unrealistic expectations of teachers.

She responded affirmatively when asked whether or not this type of action bore fruit in the past.
