TTPS: One Killed, Seven Held in Police-Involved Shooting

One man was killed, and seven others arrested following a police involved shooting incident which occurred in the Tacarigua Friday night.  

Reports indicate that around 9:05 pm, on Friday June 30th, officers were on mobile patrol in the district when they received  information about a group of men allegedly tampering with a Nissan  Sylphy motor vehicle.  

The officers proceeded to the location where they observed the  activities of the group. The men looked in the direction of the officers  and ran off into a nearby house before allegedly shooting at them.  

The officers, in keeping with the Use of Force Policy, returned fire in  the direction of the suspects, hitting one of them.  

The suspect was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences  Complex, where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified as  Jordan Nathan, 19, of Dinsley Village.  

One revolver and four live rounds of .38 ammunition were recovered  from the scene.  

With the assistance of other Units, seven other suspects ages 18 to  29, were arrested in the immediate surrounding areas.  

Investigations are ongoing.
