MET Office update Yellow Level Alert for today, says brace for rain

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has issued an update on an adverse weather alert – yellow level, for Trinidad until 6pm today.
In an update, the Met Office said:
“Although a few settled periods was experienced last evening, there is still the high (70%) chance of heavy downpours and thunderstorms.
“Elevated river levels and saturated soils will increase the likelihood of localized ponding and street flooding.
“Smaller watercourses can become overwhelmed in heavy downpours.
“Gusts in excess of 55km/h can be expected near heavy downpours and can displace loose outdoor objects and unsecured roofs. Landslides/landslips are also likely in areas so prone.”
The Met Office said the public should secure loose items outdoors and refrain from wading or driving through flood waters.
The public is urged to continue monitoring the Met Office via official channels for the latest updates.
