TTPS Coastal and Riverine Unit up and running

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) Coastal and Riverine Unit is up and running and it will be launched shortly.

The Unit will conduct patrols along the coastline and rivers of Trinidad and Tobago, where intelligence reports suggest that narcotics, firearms and illegal immigrants enter.

The Coast and Riverine Unit will assist the Coast Guard to patrol our territorial waters.

The Unit will be searching for illegal immigrants who are trying to enter this country.

Over the past weeks, the officers have been busy stopping and checking on vessels, in particular fishing vessels, to determine whether they are legitimately in Trinidad and Tobago waters.

Some of these vessels have contracts with local companies to offload fish and to purchase ice.
