TTPS Air Support Unit assists in locating suspected drowning victim

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) Air Support Unit has assisted in locating the body of an adult male, who was suspected of drowning at Tyrico Bay, Maracas.

Around 1:45 pm, on Saturday 9th July, 2022, members of the TTPS Air Support Unit, led by Insp. (Ag.) Rampallard in a joint operation with the Trinidad and Tobago Air Guard, utilizing a TTAG helicopter and crew and the TTPS Drone technology, located the body of 57-year-old Premchand Dipnarine, after an extensive two-day exercise.

The exercise also included personnel from the Maracas Bay Police Station, the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard, the use of a TTCG vessel and the expertise of TTCG divers who retrieved the body. Family and friends of the deceased and volunteer search personnel also assisted.

The exercise was coordinated by ACP (Ag.) North East, Samaroo, ACP (Ag.) ‘Tactical Support’, Dillon, Snr. Supt. North Eastern Division Maharaj, the TT Air Guard Operations and the TT Coast Guard Operations.

The TTPS continues to partner with stakeholders in the Ministry of National Security and the community to collectively provide different aspects of support of all citizens.
