Gabriel Faria, CEO of the T&T Chamber of Industry and Commerce is hoping for the best, as it relates to the reopening of the retail business sector on Monday.
While many are predicting very slow consumer spending, an optimistic Faria, in an interview with GML, said he is hopeful that pent up demand by consumers will be the saving grace for businesses.
He told the media house: “There is some pent up demand. There are people who over the months whose water heaters, their TVs, their computers would need repairs and they need to get a new one. With the new vaccines, school children need to go to school. However, I don’t believe that we will go back to the levels of consumption in the past. I expect that we will see a lower level of activity.”
