Tribe’s permission to block some Woodbrook streets for Sunset Theatre revoked

Tribe Carnival has been forced to rework the format of their block-party styled Sunset Theatre event, carded for this evening at the Ariapita Avenue.

This after police revoked the permission that was originally granted.

The Permission Order stamped on July 19, allowed Tribe to block the roadway between Ana and Carlos Streets on Ariapita Avenue from 5 pm to 11 pm.

However, according to a GML report, the permission originally granted was an administrative error.

Reports are that concerns were also raised about the lawfulness of the band’s traffic plan that was posted to social media and residents were not happy about the access passes required.

Creative Director Valmiki Maharaj said despite the revocation of permission, the show will go on but the format will be reworked.

Tribe is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
Following this evening’s Sunset Theatre, which will showcase costumes of The Lost Tribe, the Sunset Wkn will continue on Saturday with Tribe Band launch at the Queen’s Park Savannah, and the Sunset Jam party at The Anchorage
