One trade union leader warns the inequality gap in wages, wealth and income in Trinidad and Tobago could result in serious implications.

It’s a point made by Secretary General of the Joint Trade Union Movement, Michael Anisette.

Mr Annisette was speaking on the Power Breakfast Programme on Power 102 Digital Wednesday morning.

Mr Annisette, who is also the President General of the Seamen and Waterfront Workers Trade Union, said there are many public servants, who due to the rising cost of living, cannot afford to engage in certain activities.

Mr Anisette said sustainable jobs and descent wages must be given greater priority in the nation.

The trade unionist said failure to do such can cause social fall out in society.

Mr Anisette said even the International Monetary Fund commented on the importance of having a business model where sustainable jobs is placed at the forefront.
