Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith today highlighted a number of issues plaguing the country since the influx of Venezuelan nationals.
Commissioner Griffith speaking at a media conference this afternoon at the Ministry of National Security Head Office on Abercromby Street, said that while we can empathise with Venezuela’s current economic and social turmoil; it has become a major drain on T&T and has somewhat increased instances of criminal activity.
He said Venezuelan nationals are seen as Robin Hoods, when in fact they wear long and heavy gold chains and cry foul on their true intentions.
He also spoke on the issue of the increased COVID-19 figures; adding that when they enter into the country illegally they are putting the lives of nationals at risk when their health status goes un-reported and un-detected.
Commissioner Griffith also called on citizens to use their cell phones to record incoming boat activity in addition too police-involved assistance of the illegal entry of Venezuelan nationals.
