Tesla stock jumped as Elon Musk stepped down as Twitter CEO

Tesla stock jumped more than 2%, seeing a spike near the end of the trading session after Elon Musk announced he would step down from his role as Twitter chief executive.

“Excited to announce that I’ve a new CEO for X/Twitter,” Musk tweeted at 3:44 p.m. ET. “She will be starting in ~6 weeks! My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops.”

Tesla stock, which had jumped early Friday, fell in the afternoon.

On Thursday, Musk had announced a new Twitter CEO would begin her duties in around six weeks. He added that his role at Twitter will transition to being executive chair and chief technology officer at the company.

The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday night Yaccarino was in talks to be the new Twitter CEO. Yaccarino played a key role in launching the Peacock streaming service.
