Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh announced today that the Government will soon de-commission St. Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital.
He made he announcement during his 2019/2020 Budget debate contribution this morning.
Minister Deyalsingh said the new centre, will be a part of a change in approach to the treatment of Mental Health patients in the country.
He coined the term “Behavioural Health Wellness services”
He said citizens will be able to access the new, centrally located, easily accessible mental health facility, where people in Cedros can’t reach.
Minsiter Deyalsingh said the approach will be to focus on adjusting how the country treated with mental health for the future.
