News emerged today that Phil Simmons will be the new head coach of the West Indies Senior Men’s team.
Just over two weeks ago, Simmons was named among three final candidates being considered for the position along with former West Indies opener Desmond Haynes and Floyd Reifer who was appointed interim head coach after newly elected Cricket West Indies President Ricky Skerritt fired the previous coaching staff headed by Richard Pybus in April.
According to West Indies Cricket Board they would be hosting a media conference on Tuesday to announce the new head coach for the struggling regional side.
Simmons, who had coaching stints in Zimbabwe, Ireland and Afghanistan, served as West Indies coach from 2015-16 before he was fired due to “differences in culture and strategic approach.
