Work Continues To Help Empower Women

The Ministry of Social Development is claiming that it is seeing signs of progress in helping women become sustainable and more independent.

It claims this is being done through some its programs and activities.

This revelation was made by the Ministry’s Corporate Communications Manager, Natalie Walters,   while speaking with the media at the International Women’s Day Rights Rally and March at Woodford Square, Port of Spain, Friday.

She cited two of the several programmes which are aimed at empowering women to help make a difference in families one of which is through agriculture

Youth Officer at the Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago, Nicolai Edwards, urged men not to feel intimidated by women, but rather to allow women to grow and continue to contribute to national development.

Meanwhile, Coordinator of the Network of Non-Governmental Organizations for the Advancement of Women, Jacqueline Burgess, said it importance NGO’S avoid duplication of roles and responsibilities and build partnerships.
