Former Miss Universe, Janelle Penny Commissiong, says that we need to do more to overcome societal bias when it comes to equal pay for women.
She told the Power Breakfast Show Friday morning, women still don’t make as much as men even when they do the same job as they do.
She said the mindset that men deserve more simply because of their sex has to change.
Commissiong made the comment as women commemorate International Women’s Day today.
She said there have indeed been women who have held positions of power in and outside of Trinidad and Tobago.
However, she wonders how much of a advantage this has been to all women.
In spite of these positions that have been held by women the fight for equality continues.
There may not be a one dimensional answer to combat this Commissiong said.
