Eight men beat and robbed a 36-year-old burger cart employee at his apartment in Penal last night.
Kareem Khan, a worker with Chadi Gyro and Burger Cart at Clarke Road Junction, told police that he was accosted by eight men, armed with cutlasses, as he entered his home around 11:30pm.
They robbed him of $3,750, which was the day’s sales. They then took him to a bedroom, bound him with rope and hit him repeatedly with cutlasses about his body as they demanded more money.
They opened a plastic box in the bedroom and stole $27,000 which he had saved while working in the burger cart over the past three years. They also took a quantity of jewellery.
Officers of the South Western Division Task Force and Penal CID visited the scene.
Investigations are underway.
