A lime at a car show in La Brea on Sunday evening turned into tragedy as one man was killed and a woman wounded.
The event at the Carat Shed beach facility in La Brea was forced to an abrupt end after gunshots were fired during the “sound off”.
The dead man has been identified as Brandon Payne, 28, of Turpin Street, South Oropouche, while the injured woman is Marisa Rodrick, 24, of Fort George Road in Princes Town.
Payne and Rodrick were among scores of people liming on the beach, when around 7:50pm, they were approached by a man.
The man pulled out a firearm and shot at Payne and Rodrick several times, causing the crowd to scamper.
The gunman then ran off into the darkness and escaped.
Payne was shot in the face, right leg and elbow while Rodrick was shot in the shoulder.
They were taken to the hospital where Payne succumbed to his injuries.
Police officers retrieved ten spent nine-millimetre shell casings from the crime scene.
