Russia Says Nothing Very Promising In Peace Talks

The Kremlin plays down hopes of a breakthrough following talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegates in Istanbul Tuesday.

Spokesman Dmitry Peskov says there was nothing very promising said or any breakthroughs achieved.

Russia said it would pull back forces from Kyiv and another city, Chernihiv.

The country’s chief negotiator says the position on Crimea and the Donbas region has not changed.

The governor of Chernihiv region says there was no let-up in strikes overnight.

Ukrainian officials say Russia is shelling nearly all cities on the front line in the Donetsk region.

Heavy fighting has been occurring on both sides there since the start of the war.
