The Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh visited the maternity ward at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital to congratulate, Athena Yee Kong Chung on the birth of her baby girl who was born at 1:50 a.m., on Christmas morning.
Ms. Annelys Zambrano was the first mother to give birth to her bouncing new baby at 12:25 a.m. on Christmas Day at the Sangre Grande Hospital.
The healthy baby girl weighed 3010 grams and was delivered by Ms. Nicole Reece, Midwife.
Tobago also recorded its first Christmas birth, a girl, at 5:01am.
The Minister also paid a Christmas courtesy call to the doctors and nurses on duty where he distributed treats and thanked them for their continued commitment, sacrifice, and high degree of professionalism.
Mr. Ronald Tsoi-a-Fatt, Chief Executive Officer at the Eastern Regional Health Authority and staff at the Maternity Ward congratulated and presented Ms. Zambrano with a hamper filled with baby products.
Gift bags containing baby products were also presented to the other mothers who delivered babies today.
