Manchester United failed to seal an automatic place in the Europa league after finishing 2nd in their group despite ending Real Sociedad’s flawless Europa League record.
Their European season will now be determined by a two legged playoff against a 3rd placed Champions League side.
The Red Devils could face Barcelona, Ronaldo’s former clubs Juventus and Sporting Lisbon, or Ajax, who Ten Hag managed for five years.
