Rio Claro father drowns at Shark River

A Rio Claro father of three drowned during a family outing to Shark River in Matelot on Monday.

Reports state that 45-year-old Ronil Balkissoon was at Shark River, Matelot with his wife and three children around 5pm.

It is said he was standing on a rock in the river when he slipped and fell.
He then got into difficulties, disappeared under water and subsequently drowned.

His wife called out to a passer-by for assistance who came and pulled Balkissoon out of the water.

He was taken to the Toco Health Facility but later died.

Balkissoon was an auto mechanic of Poole Valley Trace, Rio Claro.
