RIC seeking police and private security for future public consultation events

The Regulated Industries Commission, (RIC) has requested police protection for future events.

Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales said because of the latest conduct of supporters of the Opposition UNC, the RIC officials have written to Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds.

He said: “The RIC is doing its constitutional responsibility to review rates for water and electricity in Trinidad and Tobago. My only concern as Minister of Public Utilities is the security issues that have been raised because the staff there felt that their personal security was compromised at the sitting or the hearing in Chaguanas.”

Gonzales said the RIC is also preparing to hire private security for the remaining consultations.
