Private sector offered to help with vaccines

Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, says the government never approached the private sector asking them to pay for COVID-19 vaccines.

Minister Deyalsingh says his Ministry facilitated a meeting with the private sector where they indicated various areas they will help to assist the government in.

The Health Minister gave the update during the question and answer period in the Senate this afternoon.

Minister Deyalsingh also responded to a question posed by Opposition Senator, Wade Mark, with respect to a proposal for the purchase/supply of three hundred and fifty-one thousand doses of Pfizer vaccines and whether Ansa Mc Al requested payment in USD and a 2021 tax write-off for said purchase.

Minister Deyalsingh also answered a question from Opposition Senator Jayanti Lutchmedial, who wanted to know the nature of any arrangement discussed with business organizations in Trinidad and Tobago to assist the Government in procuring COVID-19 vaccines.
