There are reports that a prisoner has escaped from the Golden Grove Prison in Arouca.
The incident is said to have occurred around 9am this morning.
The suspect’s name is Siew Persad also known as Siew Ramdass, alias “Pope” of Blanchisseuse Road, Arima.
Reports are that Ramdass was reportedly with a group of prisoners in the garden area called “The Veg” when he escaped.
Ramdass was absent when prison officers were making a headcount about two hours later.
Ramdass was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment in December last year after he pleaded guilty to stealing chickens from a farmer.
Officers of the Guard and Emergency Branch, Arouca CID and Task Force, as well as prison officers are aiding in the search of the Bon Air area.
