Two Water Projects Commissioned In Tobago

Two projects to improve the reliability of the water supply to just over 11,700 residents in Tobago were commissioned this week in a ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Public Utilities and the Water and Sewerage Authority.

The projects: the Signal Hill to Apex Pipe Laying Project, and the Construction of the Hope Trace Booster Station, cost $10,168,932 and $947,568 respectively, and are aimed at increasing the levels of service from 24 hours, 1 day per week in some cases, to a minimum of 24 hours, 5 days per week across the Courland Water Treatment Plant Supply Zone and in Upper Hope Trace, which receives water from the Hillsborough Water Treatment Plant.

During his feature address at the commissioning ceremony, Minister of Public Utilities, Marvin Gonzales, noted along with the desilting of the Hillsborough Dam which was commissioned last May, and projects completed under the Ministry’s Community Water Improvement Programme, the two recently commissioned projects bring Government’s investment into water infrastructure on the island to a total of over $80 million.
