Blaxx and Nappy among the 11 Soca Monarch finalists

The finalist have been chosen for the 2021 International Soca Monarch competition, which has now been dubbed simply as THE MONARCH.

Eleven singers have been selected for the event, which will be held as usual on Carnival Friday, February 12. But, instead of the national stadium, the event will be under the roof of the National Academy for the Performing Arts with a limited audience.

The 11 finalists are:
Aaron Duncan
Blaxx
Farmer Nappy
Melly Rose
Olatunji
Preedy
Rome
Trinidad Ghost
Trinidad Killa
Turner
Viking Ding Ding and Mical Teja

2020 Power soca winners Iwer George and Kees Dieffenthaller and Groovy winner College Boy Jesse are not among the list of names and the organisers of the event had earlier stipulated that unlike past years, they would not have automatic entry for defending champs. They had to submit songs like any one else.

The finalists will be vying for cash and prizes of $300,000.
