Prison officer charged with Breach of Protection Order and Assault

A Prison Officer appeared virtually before a Sangre Grande Magistrate on Tuesday, to answer to a charge of the Breach of a Protection Order and Assault by Threats.

NARINE BOODRAM, 33, was charged with the offence, on Monday 20th November, 2023.

Around 4:40 pm on Sunday 19th November 2023, two victims were at Trini River Lime, Orosco Road, Matura waiting another friend when they were approached by the suspect who threatened them.

Both victims then proceeded to the Matura Police Station where reports were made. One of the victims produced a copy of Protection Order Number 3519 of 2020 which was issued at the Sangre Grande Magistrate’s Court on April 12th, 2021 and which prohibits the suspect from engaging in or threatening to engage in any acts of Domestic Violence against victim.

Cpl Rampersad and a party of Police officers conducted enquiries and proceeded to the Trini River Lime where Cpl Rampersad met the suspect, identified himself, told him of a report of Breach of Protection Order made against and cautioned him and arrested him.

The investigations were executed by officers of the Mayaro Police Station.
