Prime Minister Tells Parliament Niquan 2021 Report Can’t Be Made Public

The government has been advised the Ministry of Energy’s report into the explosion in April 2021 at the Niquan plant cannot be made public.

This is because the company is not a public entity but a private legal entity.

In the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley, said probes have been done by the Ministry, the Occupational Safety Health Authority and Niquan.

The restart of the plant was permitted at the completion of the investigation.

The Prime Minister also said it is too early to give information into the circumstances surrounding the root cause of the tragic incident which took place at the Niquan on June 15th this year.

The employee who was assigned to the company’s Pointe-a- Pierre plant was injured in an incident at the facility while carry out maintenance work.

He reportedly passed away while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Miami.

Dr Rowley told the parliament of the principles which will guide how the development is carried out.
