Primary Schools Principals’ Association To Cooperate With Education Ministries Instructions Regarding Textbooks

The Primary Schools Principals’ Association says it will cooperate with the instructions given for there to be no changes to the list of textbooks as issued in Academic Year 2022/23 for the new Academic Year 2023/24.

This position was outlined in a Ministry of Education circular memorandum issued to principals on Monday.

In a media release, the Ministry of Education said in collaboration with iGovTT, it is currently engaged in the procurement process for an e-book platform.

The Ministry will commence a review of textbooks, including e-books and e-resources, the outcome of which will be used to inform the policy regarding the formulation of schools’ booklists.

Principals and stakeholders will be updated accordingly as this process continues.

President of the Association, Carlene Haynes, said it will comply with the requirements stipulated by the Ministry.

However, Ms Haynes also called for publishers to do their part in the process to ensure the move is a success.

Ms Haynes noted that it has not been a normal practise to change text books to almost every year.
