President told to “come clean” over meeting with Rowley or resign

Opposition leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is calling on President Paula-Mae Weekes to either come clean on her alleged meeting with Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley regarding the Police Service Commission or resign.

She made the call last evening while speaking during the UNC’s Virtual Report.

Mrs. Persad-Bissessar questioned whether Dr Rowley met Her Excellency to discuss the Police Service Commission Merit List.

She suggested that if this was indeed true, his actions were tantamount to influencing the President which is contrary to the constitution.

Mrs. Persad-Bissessar added that until President Weekes clears the air, she has no moral or ethical authority to make new PSC appointments.
