Police detained man for wounding woman

Officers of the Gender-Based Violence Unit (GBVU) have arrested a 36-year-old man following a wounding incident involving a woman earlier this month.

On January 7th, a 32-year-old nurse of Malabar reported that she heard someone calling.

When she came out of the bathroom and stepped into her bedroom, she saw a man whom she knew armed, and who was armed with a knife.

It is alleged that intruder then proceeded to attack the woman.

She reportedly received injuries to her arm, ring finger, and little fingers.

On January 11th, based on information received, police proceeded to William Trace, Waterloo Road, Arouca, where they arrested the
suspect following which he was taken to the Maloney Police Station.

Charges are expected to be laid soon.
