Police detain Maraval man with a quantity of ecstasy

A quantity of the drug known as Molly/Ecstasy was seized in Maraval on Wednesday during a police operation of the Western Division led by ASP Lynch, Insp Grant, and Sgt Archibald.

At about 5.40 p.m. a team of officers were patrolling Moraldo Street when they saw a man walking along the roadway.

The suspect, upon seeing the marked police vehicle, turned around and began walking in the opposite direction.

This drew the suspicion of the officers, and the suspect was stopped and searched.

In a backpack he was carrying, police found a quantity of MDMA.

The suspect, a 36-year-old man from the community, was immediately arrested.

The drugs were said to have a weight of 21.1 grammes.

PC Davis is continuing enquiries.

Over the past three months, several quantities of MDMA have been seized throughout the country raising concerns about the prevalence of the drug in this country.
