Petition In Grenada To Remove Trinidadian Born Bishop Clyde Harvey

There is a petition against Trinidadian born Bishop of the Diocese of St George, Clyde Harvey, in Grenada seeking to remove him from the position.

Media reports say many members of the Catholic denomination in a rural church in the St Patrick East constituency have given support to a petition started by their parish priest Father Gerard Paul.

According to Paul, he would take the petition to all Catholics on the island, as well as in the Caribbean and Diaspora to get Harvey removed for his alleged poor leadership of the faithful since assuming the post of Bishop seven years ago.

Bishop Harvey, who reached the mandatory retirement age as Bishop in November is said to have been given a 2-year extension by Rome while the search continues for his successor.

Earlier this month it was reported a truce has been brokered between Roman Catholic Bishop Clyde Harvey and Father Gerard Paul.

It said one of the two mediators, Terrence P Smith, stated that “an agreement” had been reached to “promote harmony in the Catholic Church in Grenada”.
