Double murder in Moruga

A man known to the police was gunned in Moruga on Monday afternoon.
The incident in St Mary’s also left another man nursing gunshot wounds.

The victims have been identified as Oba Gill James and his employee, Brandon Seenath, 33.

A police report said they were seated in the garage area of Oba’s residence around 5:30pm when they were approached by two men armed with firearms.

The men opened fire at Oba and Seenath and ran off.

Oba, with multiple gunshot injuries, slumped over a plastic chair and died.

Seenath fell on the ground in the garage and died.

Crime Scene Investigators retrieved 5.56 millimetre shell casings in the garage.

Police said that Gill James had been previously charged with possession of cocaine for trafficking.

His brother Shumba James was a witness for the prosecution to testify against the six officers who are charged with the murders of Abigail Johnson, 23; Alana Duncan, 28; and Kerron “Fingers” Eccles, 26, on the night of July 22, 2011, on Rochard Douglas Road.

In November, after almost 13 years on remand and a trial, the six police officers were freed.
