A pedestrian was killed while attempting to run across the Audrey Jeffers Highway, Cocorite on Monday night.
The incident occurred at around 10:15pm, on the eastbound lane of the Highway.
Police were told that a 29-year-old man was driving a Toyota Axio when on reaching the fish market, he saw someone dart across the roadway.
The man said he tried to avoid the pedestrian but was unsuccessful.
The vehicle came into contact with the man – throwing him several feet.
The driver stopped his car and called the police and emergency health services.
The victim, who is yet to be identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
