Parliamentarians Told Work Together For the Good Of The Nation

Put aside party rivalries, collaborate, and work together for the good of the nation, this is one of many messages sent to parliamentarians from President Christine Kangaloo during her address at today’s ceremonial opening of the 4th session of parliament.

Her Excellency cited the benefits to be derived from this approach in addressing challenges facing the nation at this time.

President Kangaloo said the seriousness and urgency of the time requires this approach be adopted right away.

Another area commented upon had to done with legislation to protect culture and the arts including giving the steel pan formal and official national instrument status which is critical to opening doors for the industry in international markets.

The General Assembly of the United Nations formally recognised the universal value and significance of the steel pan and President Kangaloo is of the view the time has come for Trinidad and Tobago to adopt a similar approach.
