On July 1st this year, former News Anchor Khamla Georges, assumed the position of Senior Manager of Environmental, Social and Reputation Management at the Telecommunication Services of Trinidad and Tobago.
The revelation came from Minister of Public Utilities, Marvin Gonzales, during the question and answer period in the House of Representatives Friday afternoon.
This as Member of Parliament for Couva North, Rudy Indarsingh, enquired as to when the position was advertised.
Minister Gonzales, however, referred to an incident which took place during the reign of the people’s partnership government in which he claimed a telephone operator was promoted to the position of Head of the SSA.
This response prompted a verbal clash from the Opposition during which MP Indarsingh further questioned the salary paid to Mr Georges, inclusive of allowances.
MP Indarsingh also asked whether the 2,000 retrench employees of TSTT were invited to apply for the position but this was ruled out of order by the house speaker.
