An increase in the minimum wage and the removal of the Value Added Tax from all food items are two of the measures the Opposition is requesting the government implement.
The UNC made the request in its Republic Day Message to the nation.
It claimed working men and women of this nation have been calling for these economic measures over the past few years.
The Opposition urged the population to be proud of our great history, and always be compelled to continue the struggle for true freedom, so decades from now, future generations will look back and be grateful we never gave up on the great nation that they will ultimately inherit.
