The government is being urged to ensure action is taken against employers who do not register workers with the National Insurance Board.
It comes from the National Workers Union.
NWU says in June this year, Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert, told the parliament, about 4,000 employers are not registered at this time with the NIB.
The union said Minister Imbert has estimated the contribution income lost due to unregistered employers is in the vicinity of $906 million for the year 2017.
According to the NI ACT “An employer who fails to apply for registration in accordance with subsection (1) or fails to comply with subsection (3) shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine of five thousand dollars.”
