Nursing home issues apology after hiring stripper as entertainment

A nursing home in Taiwan was forced to issue an apology after it hired an exotic dancer to perform for elderly people in wheelchairs.

The Taoyuan Veterans Home, a facility for retired soldiers in Tawain, hired the stripper for a sensual performance to commemorate the Mid-Autumn Festival.

This is a significant celebration in Chinese culture marked by family gatherings, harvest thanksgivings and good luck prayers.

An audience member recorded the performance, which was uploaded to social media and instantly went viral.

After receiving criticism, the elderly care home issued a statement indicating that the “event’s goal was to amuse and please the residents…which they clearly did.

In the video one elderly man is seen “interacting” with the dancer while others eagerly clapped along.

A spokeswoman for the elderly facility noted that the COVID outbreak had forced the nursing home to cancel the celebrations the previous two years.

So they scheduled the stripper to put on a show to cheer up the residents.

Persons did note on social media however that at least they stayed COVID-safe with the dancer and all the nursing home residents wearing face masks during the display.
