No formal arrangement with Jack Warner says UNC PRO

There has been no formal arrangement or talks between the UNC and Jack Warner’s ILP to form a coalition.

So says UNC’s Public Relations Officer, Kirk Meighoo after UNC Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar and ILP leader Jack Warner were pictured conversing while “arm in arm” at a UNC fundraising event on Saturday.

It was the first time they had spoken since 2013 after Warner resigned from the UNC and formed the ILP as part of the fallout from an alleged corruption scandal connected to Warner’s tenure in FIFA.

The pictures spurred belief that the duo plan to work together once again to unseat the PNM.

Particularly as Persad-Bissessar recently said the UNC is willing to work with smaller parties to take on the PNM in the 2025 General Election.

However, Meighoo told News Power Now that while the UNC is open to the talks, any rumour of a coalition is premature.

He also moved to dispel any talk of a possible coalition meeting the same fate as the People’s Partnership.

Meighoo claimed that the UNC executive remains optimistic despite the PP’s eventual demise.
