T&T will soon have a new vessel for inter-island travel between the two islands.
At a PNM meeting in Chaguanas East on Monday night, Minister of Works and Transport Rohan Sinanan said the vessel can make it to Tobago in just four hours and has the capacity to carry 400 passengers.
The vessel, which is expected to arrive in December, will also assist truck drivers who work the cargo route.
Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Clarence Rambharat said that T&T had no shortage of food during the Covid-19 outbreak, adding that it was a result of the Prime Minister’s decision to keep the markets open.
He said the country could change its food import bill by planting crops.
He said, “We recognised in COVID that we can eat such things if there’s been an interruption of local or international supply…Chaguanas East is the home gardening capital of T&T. They planting everything – including the cannabis!’’
Rambharat also revealed that the Government is thinking about ways to assist the fisheries sector, by discussing legislation to govern the industry.
