Valsayn man killed in Barataria accident

An accident in Barataria on Wednesday morning has claimed the life of a 39-year-old Valsayn man.

The victim, Christen Lewis of Bamboo Settlement #3, Valsayn, was said to be a passenger in a white Toyota vehicle which was being driven by a man from Carlsen Field.

Reports state that at around 2:45 am this morning, the two were proceeding east on the left lane of the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway, when on reaching the vicinity of Solo Beverage, the driver of a white Chevy Colorado which was proceeding behind them, lost control and struck the Toyota.

Both vehicles spun on the roadway.

The Toyota ran off the left side of the highway, over the metal barrier where it came to a stop.

The police and emergency health services were notified and all three parties involved in the accident were taken to the Eric Williams Medical Science Complex in Mt Hope.

However, around 4:50 am, Lewis succumbed to the injuries sustained.

Police are continuing inquiries into the incident.
