New Ministry of Health Administration building officially opened

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley formally cut the ribbon to signal the opening of the new Ministry of Health Administrative Building located at Jerningham Avenue and Queen’s Park Savannah East, Port of Spain on Monday.

The Ministry of Health currently leases seven properties at several locations in Port of Spain. This new Administrative Building will now accommodate the Ministry and its key partners of 16 divisions in a centralised location bringing a synergy of optimal performance.

The Ministry of Health Administrative Building is outfitted with:
– Office space for over 800 people.
– Conference spaces – with over 32 conference and meeting rooms.
– A digital library for computer access to digital records.
– A daycare and breastfeeding room.
– Two fully outfitted gyms.

The project was executed via a Build-Own-Lease-Transfer (BOLT) contract between The Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago and Asclepius Holdings Limited (wholly owned subsidiary between Republic Bank and NH International Caribbean Limited).

Delivering the feature address, Prime Minister Rowley said allowing the Private sector to raise the funding and carry the expense for a decade or so allowed the State to have this facility. Dr Rowley encouraged more Public-Private Partnership arrangements to expand the country’s infrastructure.

The Prime Minister was joined at the opening ceremony by the Minister of Health, the Hon Terrence Deyalsingh, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Member of Parliament for Port of Spain North/St. Ann’s West, the Hon Stuart Young and His Worship Alderman Joel Martinez, Mayor of Port of Spain.
