NAMDEVCO to purchase from market vendors in light of curfews this weekend

In light of the curfews this weekend and the loss of business that will occur as result for farmer’s markets, NAMDEVCO has offered to buy produce from farmers’ market vendors, who will be affected.

Minister Camille Robinson-Regis, in response to a question in the parliament on Wednesday, said “NAMDEVCO has been in contact with all the farmer’s markets and all the vendors that participate there and have offered to buy their items so as to include them in the food box delivery that is given to the members of parliament.”

She said several of the farmers were not willing to have a market day on Friday, to compensate for losing the key business days of Saturday and Sunday, which will now have a 10am-5am curfew imposed for this weekend only.

Instead, she said NAMDEVCO has stepped in and the farmers have been contacted.
